Gutters and downspouts are necessary for drainage, and I have a few plans to upgrade my gutters for less money than I would spend on the whole project.
But… the downspout is actually a funny story.
It doesn’t drain water from the crawlspace.
It actually drains water from my carport roof down into my carport.
It has to drain somewhere.
Anywho… after I put in my bid on the house, I asked a neighbor to help me cut out my gutters.
Stuck gutters aren’t like gutters that have a little bit of slop in them, because the water just runs through the gutters and leaves whatever it touches a nice, flat pool of water on the ground.
Stuck gutters are full of little tubes of sticky black gunk, and when it gets hot the gunk dries out and hardens into a big, gross, old, gross, disgusting mess.
It’s disgusting.
But you know what’s even more gross?
To get stuck gutters unstuck.
Basically, they won’t just stick to anything.
Professional roofing and gutter builders can help you to clean all stuff from gutters and downspouts.
And if you have something like this, you can also get that stuff out.
If you can imagine the gutter on your house is sagging in the middle and makes a big hole, they can help you to secure your gutters to something in your home.
This works great for gutter extensions, which I’ve done with water damage repairs.
Just take out your existing gutters, cut a hole in your roof (or attach new gutters to your existing roof), and run the extension tubes for water drainage through it until it runs out the bottom of your house.
Then you just run a piece of mesh under the bottom of your roof, and the tubes go up into your attic.
You can buy this little roofing mesh stuff.
The kind that goes up into your attic is an inner tube, and you slide it under your roof, and push it into the hole in the mesh, and then cut it.
It works great!
It’s a simpler, easier, cheaper option than cutting all those tubes and running all those tubes all around your house.
But in the mean time, I had a big, slovenly, nasty black gunk – covered extension cord stuck on my roof, and my neighbor’s other roof was leaking.
I was in luck.
My neighbor had a company AZA Constructions, he knew do work, and he came over to help me out with my stuck gutters.
He also came over to put a tarp under my leaking roof.
His price was awesome.
He’s one of the most popular constructions and general contractor in our area near Alexandria VA, and I am very happy with them.
