Winter’s gusts can cause trees, branches, and even whole trees to come crashing down. This Winter Storm will be made up of three main types of winter storms. The first type, Winter Storm-Light Snow Storm, will usually be light and fluffy snow, which is relatively easy to shovel and plow away. However, when this kind of storm is accompanied by high winds, slippery driving conditions, and light snow accumulation, the damage can be high and repair and restoration costs are high.
The second type of storm is called Winter Storm-Heavy Snow Storm and is defined by: 1) a lot of snow and/or 2) strong winds. Heavy Snow Storms tend to dump a lot of snow in a short amount of time. They can also bring high winds, which means downed power lines, and whiteout conditions, which also means no visibility and very little chance to save yourself or your car in a car accident. This kind of storm causes extensive damages and can be difficult to repair, and in some cases, it’s even impossible to repair.
The third type of winter storm is called Winter Storm-Blizzard and is defined by: 1) the blizzard is severe, long, and low pressure; 2) snow falls from the sky rapidly and covers the ground; and 3) it’s accompanied by high winds and extreme cold temperatures. These storms can have very high winds, with winds of up to 50 mph, making it very dangerous to be outside. Wind chill values can be as low as 5 below zero Fahrenheit, which makes it dangerous to breathe or even just to walk. It also makes it very hard to do anything, like opening a car door.
